  "projectDescription": "Through NOAA's Community-based Restoration Program and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the city of Jacksonville, North Carolina and the New River Foundation were awarded funding to restore the shoreline of Chaney Creek, a tributary of the New River. Impacts from development and loss of wetland and vegetated buffers have caused the creek to degrade. A total of 2 acres of wetlands were restored at two different sites, 3500 oysters were used to construct 1.5 acres of oyster beds, and 1.5 acres of submerged aquatic vegetation was be planted at the project site on Chaney Creek.",
