  "projectDescription": "This project addressed issues in the Pickering Creek salt marsh caused by ditching, which had increased water drainage from the marsh.  A specialized wetland excavator was used to install \"ditch plugs\" to block the man-made ditches with marsh soil, thereby slowing the water drainage from the marsh and creating essential open water habitat. The project restored 42 acres of habitat for salt marsh dependent plants and wildlife, decreased mosquito breeding habitat, and improved water quality.",
