  "projectDescription": "A broad coalition of local, state, and federal partners worked together on the Delehide Cove restoration project to address the loss of intertidal salt marshes to significant erosion in the West Bay/Galveston Bay area of Texas. An offshore breakwater was installed to reduce wave energy and 50 acres of intertidal marsh mounds were constructed. This restoration enhances an area that has historically provided vital refuge, nursery and foraging habitat to a variety of commercially and recreationally important species. The Delehide Cove Restoration Project Team was chosen the National Award Winner, Group Category, of the National Wetland Conservation Award in June 2005 by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.",
