"projectDescription": "The Fort at No. 4 is located on an impounded section of river, subject to daily water level fluctuations, recreational boat wakes, and ice scouring, which resulted in the erosion of at least 750 feet along the riverbank. The riverbank stabilization design featured a stone shelf immediately adjacent to the toe of the slope, with fill angled against the slope along the sections where the bank had failed. The fill was planted with live stakes and root wads of shrubs with well-branched root systems and 600 trees and shrubs were planted along the riverbank to provide root systems that will help anchor soils above the riverbank and create new habitat for birds and wildlife.",
