  "projectDescription": "The plan called for the removal of the dike wall to allow tidal flow into the interior formerly connected tidal marsh. One acre of marsh was replanted in the footprint of the dike removal. 4 acres were hydrologically  connected and regularly flooded with tidal waters. The area recovered over a period of five years.  DARRP funds in the amount of $30,000 from the Exxon Bayway settlement paid for project development and management, site inventory, schematic design, design drawings, specifications and cost estimates.  The City of New York received $268,000 from the NYSCWCA Bond Act in order to complete plans, construction and monitoring of the project. The fund was matched with an additional $268,000 from the City Office of Management and Budget for capital improvements.  Construction began in 2003 but was  suspended pending further investigation of disposal sites until 2004 when the project was completed.  cwa 02/28/04",
