  "projectDescription": "At one time, the lower Lafourche delta was protected by various, naturally occurring coastal ridges which served as buffers between the Gulf and highly sensitive coastal wetlands. Over the last century many of these ridges have disappeared, thereby exposing the highly vulnerable marshes to coastal erosion. This project constructed a maritime forest ridge which will restore essential marine fishery habitat, and help to protect the Lafourche port from storm surge and energy approaching from the north.",
