"projectDescription": "Clear Creek, located in Northwest Florida, is a small stream located near a historic borrow pit. The borrow pit had evolved into a 45-acre gully that poured massive amounts of sediment into Clear Creek and eventually into the Blackwater River and Blackwater Bay, which was affecting the migration of gulf sturgeon. This project stabilized the pit by creating a new stream channel in the bottom of the borrow pit. The riparian floodplain was planted with native vegetation to stabilize the stream banks. Some isolated wetlands were created to handle excessive flows from secondary gullies. Additionally, offsite stormwater retention was constructed to limit high discharge and shear stress into the gully and new stream channel.",
