  "projectDescription": "Tremendous groundwater and petroleum withdrawals resulted in significant subsidence in Dickinson Bay on the upper Texas Coast, which resulted in the drowning of fringing salt marshes, resultant increases in shoreline erosion, and the complete submersion of three islands within the bay. One new, engineered island was constructed to replace critical intertidal marsh habitat, colonial waterbird nesting habitat, oyster reefs, and essential erosion protection for the Nature Conservancy's adjacent Texas City Prairie Chicken Preserve. The construction provided 4 acres of intertidal marsh habitat, one acre of upland area for bird nesting, and almost two acres of oyster reef enhancement. Seven acres were restored.",
