  "projectDescription": "The marsh along the Beaver Dam Creek in Brookhaven NY was severely impacted in the 1920s and 1960s when dredge spoil was applied to the marsh.  Grid ditching for mosquito control changed the marsh hydrology.  This project restored 8 acres on the east side of the marsh through removal of dredge spoil, removing a dike, mowing down invasive Phragmites, and creating tidal creeks and pools.  Native marsh grasses were planted.  Additional restoration planning, including photogrammetric analysis, occurred on the 22 acres west of Beaver Dam Creek.",
