"projectDescription": "In the early 1900s, the City of Cordova supported a large commercial razor clam fishery, with a historic commercial harvest of as much as 3 million pounds. By the early 1960s, the fishery began to decline due to over-exploitation and habitat changes due to an earthquake in 1964. This project developed and evaluated mechanisms for restoration and enhancement of razor clam populations in Orca Inlet, in Prince William Sound. In an attempt to bolster populations up to a level where reseeding can occur, clams were harvested in nearby areas and planted in Orca Inlet. Preliminary monitoring has determined that the transplanted clams are viable and growing in their new environment.",
