  "projectDescription": "This project plans to install riverbank stabilization/fish habitat improvement structures and instream flow enhancement features for Atlantic salmon on the Salmon River, NY. This project is part of a larger initiative of the Lake Ontario Committee agencies to re-establish native Atlantic salmon in Lake Ontario and enhance important fishery resources to support recreational fishing. Specific restoration actions in this project will include the installation of: (1) 1200 linear feet of toe wood bank stabilization structures across two stream reaches immediately downstream of the Trestle Pool Project, and (2) a J-hook vane structure at the downstream end of the furthest downstream reach. Riparian areas will be planted with live stakes, seeded, and mulched once construction is complete. JB’s Excavation Services will perform the construction for the project, anticipating work in July and August 2025. Project partners include New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, USFWS New York Field Office (USFWS NYFO), and Finger Lakes Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Association (FLLOWPA).",
