  "projectDescription": "In order to reduce boat related manatee deaths and impacts to manatee habitat, the Cockroach Bay User's Group (C-BUG) implemented a pilot program that educated boaters about manatee-safe boating. Kits were distributed that provided tools to assist boaters in avoiding manatees and shallow seagrass flats. More than 8 miles of habitat were posted with signage for protection, materials were distributed to local high schools, a newsletter was created, and the membership of C-BUG grew to over 300 people in support of protection of manatees and their habitats.",
