"projectDescription": "TNC along with partners at Appalachian Mountain Club and Atlantic Salmon Federation completed the 'Piscataquis Habitat Optimization Study' in December 2022 under this award (NA21NMF4630545). The goal if the study was to conduct an analysis of scenarios that will achieve the maximum number of Atlantic salmon critical habitat units for the least cost in the Piscataquis watershed, a major tributary of the Penobscot River Salmon Habitat Recovery Unit (SHRU).TNC, along with project partners, will complete engineering and design for 3 top priority municipal culvert crossings as a result of the optimization study on the Piscataquis River watershed and proceed with implementation and construction with at least one municipal culvert crossing replacement. This project will result in benefits to Atlantic Salmon, a federally endangered species.",
