"projectDescription": "The goal of a multi-site recon study is to prioritize candidate restoration sites that offer significant ecological benefit and reduce risks to public safety. The Atlantic Salmon Federation will retain a professional engineering firm to provide technical services to complete a reconnaissance level study at 21 sites in the Penobscot watershed. The hired engineering firm will then utilize this information to prepare a report for each site identifying the fish passage restoration opportunities and constraints and present a conceptual approach. The engineering firm will also outline required permits, discuss additional data collection needs, and provide an opinion of cost and schedule. The deliverable will be a summarized report prepared for each site, in addition to a summarized memo prioritizing all evaluated sites based on available habitat, scope, and cost.We will review these results with colleagues at the Maine Department of Marine Resources. We will hire an engineering firm to complete 30% level engineering design plans and final plans for fish passage at three lake or pond outlets, and hire a contractor to construct fish passage at one of these sites. This project site is part of a larger award and a broader effort to advance the restoration of sea-run fisheries in the Penobscot Watershed with ASF.",
