"projectDescription": "The Piscataquis watershed has 410 road-stream crossings that inhibit fish migration. Many of these public road networks parallel the river in its valley, where they frequently intersect headwater tributaries just above main-stem confluences. Improved road-stream crossings will be a hedge against climate impacts on ecosystems and human infrastructure. Addressing a road-stream crossing that blocks fish passage simultaneously improves the crossing’s flood resiliency by increasing capacity to pass water flows associated with increasingly frequent large storm events due to climate change. These restoration projects build resiliency in human communities, including on Tribal lands, which are all increasingly subject to the compounding effects of climate change, including habitat degradation, warming water temperatures, and the increased frequency and intensity of large storms. This project site is part of a larger award and a broader effort to advance the restoration of sea-run fisheries in the Penobscot Watershed with ASF.This project supports the planning, design, engineering, permitting, and construction of culvert replacements along Stinking Brook.",
