  "projectDescription": "The 36-in galvanized culvert along the State Park M1 Road is in poor condition and is hydraulically undersized. It was assessed for Fish Passage in 2007 and had a GRAY status, a temporal/partial barrier to all life stages. In addition to blocking fish passage, the culvert has hydraulically impacted tidally influenced wetlands both upstream and downstream of the crossing, resulting in fragmentation of tidal wetland and floodplain habitats. The site is proximate to Dry Dock Gulch and is specifically referenced in the draft SHaRP report for the Big River Watershed. Designs will consist of replacement of the culvert with a new structure that will facilitate fish passage to 0.4 mile of upstream habitat and accommodate 100-year flow events and improve salmonid rearing and refugia habitat within tidal marshlands. Design work is expected to begin April 2023 through a funding request made to CDFW FRGP and through in-kind services provided by CA State Parks staff, with construction expected in 2027.",
