  "projectDescription": "Chaland Headland, the first project unit, was completed in January 2007; this project reestablished approximately 430 acres of critical barrier island habitat in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana south of the town of Empire.  The primary goals of the project were 1) to prevent breaching of the barrier shoreline by increasing its width and average height and 2) to protect and create dune, swale, and intertidal marsh habitats.  The second project unit, Pelican Island, was substantially completed in December 2012 with plantings of the dune that followed in Fall 2013.  The Pelican Island unit created an additional 586 acres of barrier island habitat.",
