"projectDescription": "The McKenzie Watershed Alliance will work with partners to plan and implement several high priority projects in the Upper Willamette Basin. They will remove barriers to fish passage, reconnect rivers to floodplains, and restore natural ecosystem processes to help support the recovery of Upper Willamette River spring Chinook salmon and winter steelhead. Robust environmental education and engagement with local communities—including tribal partners—are integrated throughout the projects. These projects will build upon many years of previous habitat restoration in high priority areas for the recovery of Upper Willamette River spring Chinook and winter steelhead. The Elijah Bristow State Park Floodplain Design project will finalize design and permitting required to implement a Stage-8 approach in the project’s Upper Zone and a Stage-0 approach in the Lower Zone and facilitate process-based floodplain restoration for up to 437 acres of floodplain and 4.4 miles of river and stream habitat. NOAA RC is funding design and also log staging to occur in fall, 2025.",
