"projectDescription": "The Mary's River Watershed Council is supporting threatened Upper Willamette River Chinook and steelhead by addressing 18 fish passage barriers across multiple watersheds in the Mid-Willamette region, in partnership with 4 other watershed councils. Efforts include removing a dam, conducting an alternatives analysis to provide fish passage at another dam, and replacing several culverts to reopen access to more than 40 miles of habitat. This work will also support local communities by reducing the risk of flooding and helping improve response to wildfires. Environmental education is a component in many of the projects. The Upper Botkin project, led by Mary's River Watershed Council with support of Bureau of Land Management, will replace a high velocity undersized culvert on public land in a tributary in the Mary's River watershed.",
