"projectDescription": "The Mary's River Watershed Council will support threatened Upper Willamette River Chinook and steelhead by addressing 18 fish passage barriers across multiple watersheds in the Mid-Willamette region, in partnership with 4 other watershed councils. Efforts include removing a dam, conducting an alternatives analysis to provide fish passage at another dam, and replacing several culverts to reopen access to more than 40 miles of habitat. This work will also support local communities by reducing the risk of flooding and helping improve response to wildfires. Environmental education is a component in many of the projects. The Mouse Creek project, led by South Santiam Watershed Council, will replace three undersized side-by-side culverts with a bridge, on a tributary of the South Santiam River, upstream of Foster Dam, increasing spawning and rearing opportunity with 1.25 miles of accessible instream habitat.",
