  "projectDescription": "This project created an oyster reef from fresh oyster shell on a relict oyster reef site at the mouth of Bon Secour River in Bon Secour Bay, Ala.  Auburn University Marine Extension and Research Center placed 45,000 oyster spat that was raised through their own efforts and 27,000 that were raised by volunteers on the site. The reef will be provide a broodstock reserve that will be closed to oyster fishing. The goal of the project is to serve as an additional source of oyster larvae production, and to increase the filtration capacity of Bon Secour Bay, as oysters can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day.",
