"projectDescription": "The goal of this project is to create final designs, obtain permits, and construct new fish passage structures at five culvert locations in the Carpenter Creek watershed (25 square miles) which is a tributary to the lower Skagit River. This project is moving forward as a result of a 10-year collaborative effort between the SFEG, county governments (Skagit, & Snohomish) and local tribal entities (Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Sauk-Suiattle and Swinomish tribes), and will contribute to the health and abundance of salmon and steelhead in the Skagit River watershed by opening up 8.67 miles of habitat on a tributary to the mainstem Skagit River. These culverts are located on a private driveway used for a rural residence. CR100 is an undersized round culvert that is 19 ft long, 4 ft in diameter, 33% passable, and will be replaced with a 30-foot wide modular steel bridge on per-cast concrete footings. CR140 is has two undersized 24 ft long, 2 ft diameter diameters pipes, which are only 33% passable, that will be removed. In addition to improving stream connectivity, this project also includes an outreach program that is specifically designed to provide community benefit, especially for the Latine students of the Mount Vernon School District. More information about this program can be found under Carpenter Creek Full Passage Restoration: CR26 and CR188 and Educational Outreach.",
