"projectDescription": "The Yurok Tribal Fisheries Department (YTFD) is working with various partners to conduct riverine restoration planning, design, implementation, and project monitoring in lower 2 miles of Blue Creek, tributary to the lower Klamath River. The project is comprised of two tasks: 1) Lower Blue Creek Habitat Enhancement; and 2) Blue Creek Bridge Replacement Feasibility Assessment. Implementation activities under task 1 includes installation of wood jams, beaver dam analogs, floodplain reconnection/excavation, and revegetation. These actions are intended to improve short term and long term habitat, natural geomorphic and hydraulic processes and overall enhance channel and habitat complexity. Construction is anticipated to begin July 2025. The feasibility assessment under task 2 includes baseline studies, modeling, and technical meetings to determine the best path forward to replace the only crossing over Blue Creek; an undersized failing bridge that is critical to long term Yurok led stewardship and restoration of the Blue Creek Salmon and Forest Sanctuary.",
