"projectDescription": "The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida) is Alaska’s largest federally recognized Trib. Today, there are nineteen federally and state recognized SEAK Tribes for whom these homelands, waters, and salmon are the foundation of their cultural existence and economic well-being. Tlingit & Haida is dedicated to enhancing both internal and regional capabilities for collaborative coastal resilience and prioritizing long-term restoration strategies and activities. While concurrently addressing the impacts of climate change in Southeast Alaska, thismultifaceted initiative involves a media campaign and community engagement activities in collaboration with Tribal partners. The Indigenous Stewardship Initiative will implement comprehensive conservation strategies for freshwater and coastal aquatic ecosystems of Southeast Alaska that will conserve and sustain the region’s fish, fish habitat, fisheries-based economy, and culture. We aim to achieve this vision by providing information, training, and coordination services across the region and fostering collaborative engagement of planning, assessment, scoping, and on-the-ground implementation work that protects and restores coastal habitat across Southeast Alaska. This data-driven approach enhances the capacity to effectively address environmental challenges, sustainable regional stewardship, and support Tribal sovereignty.",
