"projectDescription": "The Clear Creek basin meets the floodplain bench of the lower Puyallup River delta in the tidal freshwater zone where historically a complex network of wetlands and spring-fed channels were drained for agriculture and the construction of the BNSF mainline railroad from Chicago to Tacoma. The Clear Creek project area is located on the Reservation Lands of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The area is used by spring and fall Chinook, steelhead, and coho salmon, and bull trout from all over the watershed as non-natal delta rearing habitat. Proposed project actions will restore 110 acres of productive tidal freshwater wetlands with extensive native re-vegetation efforts, excavation of channel threads, and removal or upgrading culverts. This project is one of the only remaining places where process-based tidal wetland restoration can occur the Puyallup River estuary.",
