"projectDescription": "Chelan County will work to address several fish passage barriers in the Wenatchee watershed, one of the four major watersheds of the Upper Columbia River Basin. This subproject in East Fork Mission Creek entails finalizing designs and implementing the removal of 3 barrier culverts between RM 1 and RM 1.2, including the highest priority barrier in the Wenatchee watershed (0 % passage barrier at RM 1.2). Replacing these culverts will open up 5 RMs of high-quality steelhead spawning and rearing habitat. The Mission Creek sub-watershed is designated a steelhead Minor Spawning Area (MISA), is a Tier 1 priority for steelhead restoration, and has numerous high-priority barriers starting at RM 1. Of the steelhead that currently travel up Mission Creek to spawn, it is likely that around one-third migrate to the East Fork of Mission Creek. Replacing these three East Fork passage barriers is a high priority for this population segment. This subproject, finalizing designs and removing three barriers to fish passage on East Fork Mission Creek, will reopen access to approximately five river miles of O.mykiss habitat for threatened Upper Columbia steelhead. and endangered Upper Columbia Chinook salmon.",
