  "projectDescription": "This Hoh River tributary is relatively large considering it does not have formal name (Six Mile Creek is an informal name found on historical documents). Above the barrier site, the creek flows through private commercial timberlands. Below the site, the creek continues through private commercial timberlands before reaching The Nature Conservancy conservation easement protected lands where it meets the Hoh River. The bankfull width at the barrier site is 9.7 meters, and the upstream habitat is of high quality and buffered by mixed deciduous and conifer forest. The stream is dominated by cobble and gravel substrate with ample large wood. The barrier is a 3.66 meter round structural plate aluminum culvert with baffles. The barrier issue involves a water surface drop at a channel spanning concrete gradient control/fishway just downstream from the culvert outlet, as well as metal baffles in the culvert creating migratory barriers at lower flows. Removing this barrier will restore access to 1.7 miles of quality habitat for coho and steelhead. Additionally, chinook are likely using this stream but not yet documented. There are two private culvert barriers in the stream network upstream from this barrier, and one is out of the anadromous zone and other limits access to 0.1-mile gain for coho and steelhead (not included in the 1.7 mile anadromous gain estimate).",
