"projectDescription": "The Salmon SuperHwy (SSH) is a collaborative partnership of over a dozen entities in the Tillamook, Nestucca, and Sand Lake watersheds. The partnership’s goal is to restore full access to 180 miles - 95% of historical Pacific anadromous fish habitat in these three watersheds - by addressing a strategically prioritized list of anthropogenic in-stream barriers including undersized culverts, small dams, weirs, and tide gates. These barriers inhibit natural stream processes and impede fish migration. They also contribute to chronic flooding, harmful erosion, road washouts, and other economic and safety problems for people. The Mill Creek site will replace a partial barrier culvert with a bridge to restore 3.3 miles of fish habitat as well as ~0.5 acres of a beaver wetland complex. This project is one of seven projects that are part of a larger award called the Salmon Superhwy, which will restore fish passage to a total of 21.7 miles of habitat in the Tillamook, Nestucca, and Sand Lake watersheds by removing seven barriers. All of these barriers inhibit natural stream processes and fish migration for ESA listed threatened Oregon Coast coho, Chinook, and chum salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout, and several lamprey species.",
