"projectDescription": "The Coquille Indian Tribe will be awarded more than $4.2million to restore fish passage at four culvert and tide gate barriers in the Coquille River watershed. This will open significant habitat for threatened Oregon Coast coho, Coquille River fall Chinook, and Pacific lamprey—species that are culturally important to the Coquille Indian Tribe and the community of Coos Bay. The work will help reduce the impacts of climate change by providing functioning floodplains and upgrading a major road and tsunami evacuation route. There are five projects entailing removal of 5 barriers (3 tide gate replacements, 1 culvert to bridge project, and 1 rock barrier removal) and funding of a cultural resource position. The Albertson project entails replacement of a tide gate on private land used for grazing. It is located near the Gatov project; however, they are separate projects likely to have somewhat different timelines.",
