The project will reconnect more than 65 miles of upstream habitat for river herring (blueback and alewife) and shad (American and hickory), as well as more than 183 miles of habitat for American eel.  The Patapsco River flows into the Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore and has historically supported abundant stocks of river herring, shad, and American eel and is considered a “high priority” watershed.",
