"projectDescription": "The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Huron Pines will replace two undersized pipes where the Black River crosses Sparr Road in Otsego County, Michigan. The replacement bottomless box culvert will allow for upstream fish passage and restore several natural river processes. The project will reconnect close to 9 miles of high-quality coldwater habitat. The Upper Black River is a world-class brook trout fishery, and is a priority watershed for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and many other stakeholders. This project is one of several led by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and partners to restore fish passage in northern Michigan.",
