"projectDescription": "The Holcomb Creek project will place large wood along 750 feet of the creek to create and maintain complex instream habitat for salmon species. Off-channel wetland area will increase by .75 acres. The project will also treat invasive blackberry adjacent to the channel and plant native species. Holcomb Creek is an important cool water tributary in the lower Abernethy Creek watershed. This project is one of 10 restoration projects near Portland in the Clackamas and Lower Willamette Rivers overseen by the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, in close collaboration with the Clackamas Partnership. The work will benefit several threatened salmon species and address flooding issues and other community safety concerns.",

"description": "The Clackamas Partnership Strategic Action Plan 2018 (SAP) guide its activities to restore seven key native fish species. The focus of this restoration is improving and opening access to freshwater habitat. Holcomb Creek was prioritized as addressing limiting factors that affect state and federal listed fish species within the Clackamas watershed population. The SAP is tiered to the Lower Columbia River Conservation and Recovery Plan for Oregon Populations of Salmon and Steelhead (ODFW 2010). NMFS Titled: Lower Columbia River Coho Salmon, Lower Columbia River Chinook Salmon, Columbia River Chum Salmon, and Lower Columbia River Steelheadnoaa_16002_DS1.pdf This plan describes factors limiting the recovery of seven species/populations found within the Focus Area, six of which are ESA-listed. Restoration actions also emphasize Pacific lamprey and bull trout (an ESA-listed species that was historically present in the Clackamas River Basin and recently reintroduced).",
