"projectDescription": "The Smith River Alliance (SRA) will restore floodplain, instream and estuarine habitat in the Smith River watershed to support one of the largest runs of salmon and steelhead in California. This project consists of 2 projects located within two different coastal tributaries of the Smith River basin in northern California and each component will benefit habitat for state and federally listed coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch).East Fork Mill Creek is a key spawning population and natal rearing habitat for listed coho salmon and SRA will relocate a bridge and road out of the floodplain to allow for natural floodplain connectivity and install large wood structures to restore 7 acres of floodplain. The second project site is located in Delilah Creek, a tributary to the Smith River estuary, and restoration objectives will primarily restore non-natal rearing habitat for juvenile salmon by developing 100% engineering designs for the lower 6,900 feet and will include restoring the channel to its historic alignment, adding channel complexity, removing fish barriers, and reestablishing a functional riparian corridor.",
