"projectDescription": "The Clackamas River Basin Council and Confederated Tribes of the Warm Spring will remove and grade concrete-lined soaking pools along an existing 1,200-foot side channel off the upper Clackamas River to improve rearing habitat for coho and Chinook salmon and steelhead. The project will create a new 1,360-foot channel as well as another 400-foot side channel through a low floodplain. It will also enhance 800 feet of side- and off-channel areas adjacent to the main stream. Large wood will be strategically added to approximately 1 mile of the mainstream and channel areas. About 7 acres of degraded riparian habitat will be revegetated. This project is one of 10 restoration projects near Portland in the Clackamas and Lower Willamette Rivers overseen by the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, in close collaboration with the Clackamas Partnership. The work will benefit several threatened salmon species, help reduce flooding in downstream areas, and improve infrastructure needed for emergency access for local communities.",

"description": "The Clackamas Partnership developed a Strategic Action Plan in 2018 to guide its activities to restore seven key native fish species. The focus of this restoration is improving and opening access to freshwater habitat. This Strategic Plan drew upon many regionalassessments and plans, primarily The Lower Columbia River Conservation and Recovery Plan for Oregon Populations of Salmon and Steelhead (Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife 2010). This plan describes factors limiting the recovery of seven species/populations found within the Focus Area, six of which are ESA-listed. Restoration actions also emphasize Pacific lamprey (astate and federal sensitive species) and bull trout (an ESA-listed species that was historically present in the Clackamas River Basin and recently reintroduced).",
