"projectDescription": "The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Huron Pines, the Conservation Resource Alliance, and other partners will reconnect 60 miles of stream by removing 12 fish passage barriers in northern Michigan. This work will restore access to key habitat for brook trout, smallmouth bass, sucker species, and many other aquatic organisms. Additionally, partners will investigate alternatives to restore fish passage for the tribally important Black Lake population of lake sturgeon through engagement in the relicensing effort for the Tower and Kleber Dams. This work will help improve road safety and maintenance issues, reduce sediment and other pollution, reduce the risk of flooding and catastrophic culvert failures, and restore natural river processes.",
