  "projectDescription": "Trout Unlimited, Oregon Department of Forestry and their partners collaborated to restore unimpeded fish passage to Whitney Creek, which is a tributary to the Kilchis River. Replacing this fish passage barrier with an appropriately sized bridge restored full fish passage to 1.2 miles of important habitat for steelhead and ESA-listed coho salmon. In addition, the project restored natural stream processes and make the structure more resilient to future climate scenarios.This project is one of six projects that are part of a larger award called the Salmon Super Highway, which will restore fish passage to a total of 15.3 miles of habitat in the Tillamook and Nestucca watersheds by removing six barriers. All of these barriers inhibit natural stream processes and fish migration for ESA listed threatened Oregon Coast coho, Chinook, and chum salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout, and several lamprey species.",
