"projectDescription": "NOAA's Community-based Restoration Program, Restore America's Estuaries, and the North Carolina Coastal Federation (NCCF) conducted nine shoreline restoration projects in four North Carolina coastal counties. To make this possible, NCCF staff engaged students at eight local schools in the construction of wetland gardens, cultivation of various wetland plants, and restoration of shorelines using these nursery plants. A total of 200 students contributed 450 volunteer hours and planted over 10,000 individual plants at the restoration sites. As part of this project, NOAA's Community-based Restoration Program also funded the establishment of a greenhouse based at the NCCF Headquarters to increase the number of plants that can be grown for shoreline restoration projects.",
