"projectDescription": "This project completed designs for and ultimately removed a remnant of the Marshville Dam, which was constructed as part of a grist mill operation on Stony Creek in the early 1800s. Stony Creek is a Lake Michigan direct drainage watershed, and is supplied by a consistent source of spring water creating high-quality cold water habitat supporting native brook trout. This project completed construction of an open span timber bridge to replace three culverts and the dam remnant obstructing fish passage and restoration of 500 lineal feet of in-stream habitat. This opened 6.5 miles of stream allowing fish and other aquatic organisms to access 18.0 acres of adjacent wetlands. Through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, NOAA provided funding and technical guidance to the design and construction phases of this project.",
