  "projectDescription": "The Cascade Brook restoration project is located in the northeastern section of Scarborough marsh in Maine. The 3,700 acre marsh area was impacted by the construction of a water control device several decades ago that impounded fresh water, reduced tidal influence, and decreased salinities in the marsh. Approximately 2,500 cubic yards of spoil material was removed from the marsh surface and was disposed of at a suitable upland site. In addition to the removal of the material from the marsh surface, the water control structure was lowered by approximately 18 inches, which significantly increased the salt water flushing in the Cascade Brook area of the marsh.",
