"projectDescription": "The Wild Salmon Center worked with the Coos Watershed Association to assess the feasibility of replacing a malfunctioning tide gate on Palouse Slough in the Coos Bay Estuary. The project will reconnect 70 acres of highly productive, juvenile salmon habitat and re-open 1.9 miles of stream to benefit ESA-listed Oregon Coast coho salmon while still maintaining productive agricultural land. Juvenile coho access to off-channel habitats limits the rearing capacity and productivity in Palouse Creek. This project is one of several that the Wild Salmon Center is implementing as part of a strategic, collaborative approach to Oregon Coast coho salmon recovery.",
