This site is part of a series of sites that are included in the “Community-based living shoreline creation in the urbanized watershed of Charleston County, South Carolina, USA to support habitat resiliency and ecosystem services” project implemented by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. The eroding banks of the Shell Midden site were alleviated by the placement of bagged oyster shell and coir logs. This project was installed along 120 linear feet of eroding shoreline and will result in approximately 0.02 acres of oyster reef habitat",
