  "projectDescription": "WDFW and partners under the Snohomish Sustainable Lands Strategy led an integrated design approach with community partners to produce an integrated ecosystem management strategy in the Lower Stillaguamish River and Estuary beginning in 2019.  The project area is extensive, including over 2,200 acres of public lands in high priority delta habitat which supports rearing of threatened Puget Sound Chinook salmon. This project will empower local partners to continue with acquisition, development, design, and execution of restoration projects in a way that provides multiple community benefits such as ecosystem recovery, agricultural resilience, and outdoor recreation, and builds trust with community partners including local infrastructure managers, neighbors, farmer associations, tribes and others. The goal of this effort is to advance salmon recovery, flood risk reduction, and agricultural resilience goals through a collaborative, integrated planning effort that results in community supported strategies and on-the-ground actions.The 2024 Snohomish Basin Salmon Plan Update work is to continue to refine and build upon the existing watershed partner coordination in the ITs and Lead Entities to implement high priority, broadly supported actions in the watershed and to continue to improve transparency, communication, and coordination across multiple interests. Project partners expect to coordinate between six to ten meetings per basin, per year, over the three-year grant period.",
