  "projectDescription": "The Lower Bridgepoint Push-up Dam removal was completed in 2021 and restored access and hydrologic function to 24 miles of habitat for Southern Oregon Northern California Coast coho. This addressed actions identified in the ESA recovery plan. The project also addressed irrigation inefficiencies and screening in order to keep more water in the stream.This project is one of multiple fish passage barrier removal/habitat restoration actions across the Rogue Basin to benefit Southern Oregon/Northern California coho salmon, which are listed as \"threatened\" under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  Projects have been selected through a rigorous, science-based prioritization process, the Rogue Restoration Action plan, and then through the Rogue Basin Partnership Basinwide Priority Barrier Removal Analysis in 2016.  This project will benefit two functionally independent populations of ESA-listed Coho within the Rogue River diversity stratum, with high extinction risks: The Illinois River and the Middle  Rogue & Applegate River populations.",
