  "projectDescription": "The Tulalip Tribes will implement a suite of priority projects in the Pilchuck River, building upon the Middle Pilchuck River Assessment (2012) and recent successes by the Tulalip Tribes during previous restoration efforts to remove the Pilchuck River Diversion Dam that restored unimpeded upstream fish passage to over 37 miles of pristine habitat. The removal of the dam has facilitated new opportunities for restoration, enhancement and connectivity projects that restore critical habitat forming processes.Historically, the Pilchuck River was home to a significant Chinook population and the species remains culturally important to the Tulalip Tribes. The work that occurred on the Pilchuck River LWD Restoration flagship project included enhancing up to 8 miles of instream habitat with the installation of up to 20 large woody debris structures. This work is necessary to connect wetlands and off- channel habitat, increase flood storage, improve riparian conditions, enhance in-stream habitat, and improve water quality to benefit Chinook salmon.
