"projectDescription": "Green Key is a small island located near the mouth of the Alafia River in an area of Tampa Bay, FL commonly referred to as the Kitchen. This project created of a series of oyster bars was in an effort to prevent further erosion, create habitat, improve water quality, and buffer the area from wave action, providing optimal conditions for the settlement of salt marsh plants and mangroves. Five oyster bars were installed on Green Key in two events. In all, 24 tons of fossilized oyster shell was deposited on the shoreline of Green Key. After 24 months, the created reefs have excellent oyster growth and appear to be healthy. Funding was provided through NOAA's Community-based Restoration Program partnership with the Fish America Foundation.",
