  "projectDescription": "The existing crossing of Gilchrist Creek at Harwood Road (upstream from Carter Road (record  #4691)) featured three undersized culverts set in a headwall of concrete bags which created velocity barriers for brook trout and other aquatic organisms, impede transport of sediment and create road maintenance and flood risk issues when woody debris jams up at the inlet. The culverts were replaced with a timber bridge that fully spanned the bankfull width restoring fish passage and a suite of other natural river processes. As a result, connectivity was achieved to the next barrier upstream and 11.5 miles of upstream habitat in Gilchrist Creek and its tributaries are accessible to native fish species.",
