"projectDescription": "The Mendocino Coast Hydrologic Unit - Phase 3 project is the third of four related projects and is part of a more robust instream wood effort along the Mendocino Coast. Trout Unlimited in partnership with industrial timberland owners, CA State Water Resources Control Board, CA State Parks, CalFIRE, and NOAA Restoration Center restored critical CCC coho salmon habitat by improving water quality and instream habitat conditions. This project introduced 79 large wood pieces at 59 structures along 1.7 miles of priority core recovery habitat for Central California Coast (CCC) coho salmon (a NOAA Species in the Spotlight) and steelhead trout. This will increase stream complexity and shelter values while simultaneously improving pool frequency and depth. This effort will help maintain the geographic distribution of coho salmon in a system with historically strong populations of coho salmon and identified biological refugia.",
