"projectDescription": "The NOAA Central California Coast Coast (CCC) Coho Salmon Recovery Plan highlights watershed conditions in Noyo River as having poor habitat complexity, poor stream temperature and only fair sediment and velocity refuges. This project addressed one of the CCC Recovery Plan Priority 1 recommendations for immediate action in the Noyo River watershed. This project prevented approximately 9,745 yd3 of sediment from entering Little North Fork Noyo River by treating 32 features and 1.20 mi of hydrologically connected, abandoned, legacy inner gorge and riparian road reaches with permanent road decommissioning. The total amount of road decommissioned was 2.31 miles. The project reduced the turbidity levels and excess sediment yield caused by both chronic surface erosion on roads and episodic erosion at individual treatment features. Improvement in water quality and reduction of water turbidity caused by stream diversions, wash-outs, and landslides (mass wasting), and gullying was greatly reduced through this work.",
