The site has experienced loss of coastal marsh at the rate of 0.03 acres per year due to fetch from Pamlico Sound. This project involved the construction of a 400 linear-foot living shoreline (0.18 acres). This project was constructed to: create habitat for eastern oysters (Crassostrea virginica); prevent additional loss of salt marsh; restore fish habitat; and provide benefits to water quality.",
