  "projectDescription": "The North Carolina Coastal Federation built a living shoreline parallel to Moor Shore Road in Kitty Hawk, NC. Due to the wave energy of Kitty Hawk Bay, the shoreline has been eroding at a rate of approximately 1 foot per year, leading to loss of salt marsh habitat. Continued erosion also threatens Moor Shore Road, an important emergency access road for the local community. The project stabilized 250 linear feet of eroding salt marsh shoreline (0.01 acres) through the installation of a vertical sheet pile sill, that was designed to dampen the wave energy causing the erosion.",
